NAZI PRETEXT
FOR BARRING PILGRIMS. ATTACK ON THE POPE. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable AssnJ (Received August 15, 7 p.m.) BERLIN, August 14. The Nazi newspaper, “Angriff,” accuses the Pope of indulging in propaganda against Germany in his speeches to German pilgrims. The “Angriff” says: This is the reason why German Catholics and others have recently been forbidden to make a pilgrimage to Rome. It adds:"It would be self mutilation for Germany to expose its citizens to hostile propaganda.” BERLIN,-August 13. Five men and one woman were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment at Bremen, for listening to Moscow broadcasts.
