Lease to Brazil OTHER AMERICAN REPUBLICS OBJECT. (Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received August 13, 10.40 p.m.) WASHINGTON, August 12. A Pan-American incident, which is growing in prominence, has arisen from the intention of the United States Government to lease six overage American destroyers to Brazil. The Argentine press is bitterly protesting against the Secretary of State, Senator Hull’s statement that any Pan-American nation can obtain similar vessels, since they are strictly for training purposes only. The press of the other Latin American countries have taken the matter up. A furious controversy is raging. Senator van den Berg alleged that this step violates the London Naval Treaty. The State Parliament contends that the other signatories to the London Treaty do not. object. s
