General Bekir Sidky, Chief of the Iraq General Staff, and Ali Jowad, head of the Iraq Air Force, were assassinated at Mosul, while en route to attend the Turkish militarymanoeuvres. General Sidky was shot down by a soldier and Jowad was killed while trying to save Sidky. The assailant was arrested. ALEXANDRETTA, August 12. One Arab was killed and thirty were wounded rioting at Antioch against the Turks. It is reported from Damascus that French military planes bombed the village of Amoudeh, on the Turkish— Syrian frontier, following attacks on Government officials. The Syrian Government accuses Turkey of supplying arms to the villagers. PALESTINE ARABS RE-ORGANISE TO RESIST PARTITION. JERUSALEM, August 13. A recrudescence of shooting, robberies and hold-ups is alarming the Jews. Last year’s band of Arabs are being reorganised to resist the partition.
