Average price per bale: —1936-37, £22 95;"1935.36, £l3 6s lOd. Average pi ice per pound:—l936-37, 15.52 d; 1935-36., 9.144 d. The offerings this season were 100,536 bales less than for 1935-36. The actual sales were less by 78,656 bales, but the gross proceeds for the much less quality sold were £5,062,830 in excess of last season.

The quantities offered sold 1 during the 1935-36 season constituted a record for the Dominion. The lesser quantities offered and sold this season are accounted for by the very greatly reduced “carry-over” from last year. Nevertheless, the offerings and sales during the 1936-37 selling season were exceeded during the last 16 seasons only by last, season’s record figures, the next best being 633,553 bales sold during 1933-34. The average price of £22 9s per bale, and 15.82(1 per lb, are the best recorded since 1927-28, when the figures were £24 4s lid per bale, and 16.89 d per lb.
