INFANTILE PARALYSIS

Five week-end eases of paralysis admitted to the hospital bring the total to thirty for Waikato-

WANGANUI, Alay 2

Another ease of infantile paralysis, the second in Wanganui, was notified, the victim being a boy aged two years from Castlecliff. The case has been diagnosed as positive, but in a mild form.

CHRISTCHURCH, May 2

A woman aged 38, from Somerfield, died in the Public Hospital late on Saturday night from infantile paralysis- She had been admitted earlier in the evening with a paralytic fever. An earlier case occurred in the same household, but the patient, is making good progress. A child, of two and a-half years, from Spreydon, has been admitted to the Public Hospital as a suspect- The two' cases admitted to the hospital on Friday have been diagnosed as negative. ’ They are a girl of four frloin Woolston and a boy of 12 from the Ellesmere County.

Second Nelson Case FROM OWEN’S RIVER.

NELSON, May 3. A second postive case of infantile paralysis has been admitted to Nelson Hospital. The case is that of a man 21 years of age, from Owen’s River, a remote locality, 50 miles from Nelson, where the first case was reported on Friday.

THREE WELLINGTON CASES

WELLINGTON, May ,3.

Three positive cases of infantile paralys's were reported in Wellington to-day. Thev are: A boy of nine from Lyall Bay- a boy of thirteen from Taranaki Street; and a boy of eight from Miramar.

NO NEW AUCKLAND CASES.

AUCKLAND, May 3

No further patients suspected of having contracted infantile paralysis have been admitted to Auckland Hospital over the week-end, and the child who was admitted on Saturday has been found .to he entirely a negative C& The Medical Officer of Health said to-night that no new cases had been reported since Thursday. The position with regard to the disease had also improved on the Hauraki Plains. It was hoped that the number of cases would continue to dwindle, and die right out-
