GOLD BOY’S SUCCESS.

For the second day of the Dannevirke meeting at Woodville, the weather was fine with a gusty wind. The attendance was satisfactory. The track was heavy. The totalisator handled £10,529, against last year’s £4905. an increase of £5624. The total for the meeting was £19.901, against last vear’s £10,454.

Kentucky Sor< was fourth. TIRATU HANDICAP—I CAPTAIN FURST (A. Lord) 1; 3 Notice (S. Wilson) 2; 2 Galteemore (P. Burgess) 3. Glenthawn was scratched. Two and a half lengths; three lengths. Hunting Tartan was fourth. Time —1.11. HARTGILL HANDICAP—S GAY ROY (S. Wilson) 1; 10 Waipiro (H. Callahan) 2, 8 Dareeourt (Doyle) 3. Parquet, was scratched. Won by a head; a length. Time—l.s9. Cvklon was fourth. At the start Red Manfred was chopped out, and the field was led by Master C’yklon from Pakanui King’s Lancer. Werohia and Waipiro. After half a mile Pakanui was in front of Rona Bay, King s Lancer and Waipiro. There was little change in the straight, Gay Boy and Waipiro working their way to tiefront to fight out the finish, and the former winning by a head. At Ascot races, Mr AV- R- Kei.iball’s Verhius colt, Chu Ch'n Chow, won the First Division of the Montrose' Handicap for juveniles. Lord WiHonyx fell in the Trial Hurdles. Desert' Chief and Namakia were unplaced in the Impeifal Handicap Upoko Ariki was unplaced in the Granville Handicap. Palantinate was unplaced in the Jeffcott Welter.
