PLANE’S WHEEL DROPS
LANDING ACCIDENT FOLLOWS. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received March 4, 9.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 4. An aeroplane accident occurred at Mascot aerodrome to-day, in which Squad'ro’n-Leader D. S'to.dajrti was injured internally. Accompanied by a Japanese pupil, Stodart took off and began to descend. When one wheel of the plane fell to the ground Stodart was unaware of the mishap. He encircled the aerodrome for a few minutes and then attempted to land. The machine, however, capsized. The Japanese was not hurt. He re. leased Stodart, who was sent to hos, pital. The machine was not severely damaged. Stodart. was a competitor in the Melbourne Centenary Air Race. PILOT AND PASSENGER KILLED. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received March 4, 11.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 4. A pilot and a single passenger were killed when a rented plane crashed on a lawn at Patchogue. Long Island, in full view of hundreds of persons in surrounding buildings, nearby the 'railway station. Witnesses heard the motor missing. It is believed the pilot attempted to land on the lawn.
