WEDDING
BRITTENDEN—PHILLIPS. At St. Patrick’s Church, Greymouth, yesterday morning, the marriage took place of Claire Margaret, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Phillips, Greymouth, and George, younger son of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. B. Brittenden, Christchurch. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Father A. Gregory, who also celebrated Nuptial Mass. Escorted by her father, the bride entered the church wearing a gown of ivory angelskin lace over satin of the same shade. The frock was trained from the waistline and she wore a tulle veil bordered with chantilly lace. She carried a sheath of cream and pink chrysanthemums and maiden hair fern. Misses Maureen and Colleen Phillips, sisters of the bride attended as bridesmaids. They were attitred alike in trained frocks of deep buttercup velvet, with bell sleeves and cowl fronts. Thev wore picture caps and brown velvet “leaves and floral muffs in autumn toniugs. Mr. Alan Baird, of Invercargill carried out the duties of best inan, and Mr. Leo. Phillips, brother of the bride, was groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at Harker’s, where Mrs. Phillips received the guests, wearing a navy costume, with hat to match and a squirrel fur. Mrs. Brittenden, mother of the.bridegroom, wore a frock of black and white floral crepe de chine, with a black' fur coat and a small black hat. The bride and bridegroom left later by car on the honeymoon, the bride wearing a model frock of American craquelle in rose-henna shade, under a musquash coat. She wore a close-fit-ting bat. The future home of Mr. and Mrs. Brittenden will be in Invercargill.
