NEW YORK, June 14.
Two special prizes and seven honourable mentions wont to Australia and New Zealand to-day, in the international competition of the New Historical Society, New York. The subject of the paper was “How can youth develop racial harmony?” Special prizes of fifty dollars each were awarded to Miss Mary Sullivan, Drummoyne, New South Wales, lan Mackay, Friendly Road Radio Station, Miss Grace Pinkard, Brookvale. Sydney, Rev. William McKay. Grange, S.A., Kenneth Melvin, Palmerston North, New Zealand. Miss Reda McKenzie, Outram, Otago, Miss Barbara Kerr, Otaiak Valley, North Auckland, and Miss Blanche Newman, North Croydon, Adelaide. RUGBY. June 13. The Sheikh of Bahrein, accompanied by, his two sons, ib arriving in England to-morrow, where for a fortnight he will bo the guest of the British Government. During this time he will b,, invested by the King with the insignia of the Knight Commander of Ihe Indian 'Empire,'an honour which was conferred, opon him in 1935. The Sheikh, who has been ruler of Bahrein since 1923, visited England unofficially in 1925. He will meet the Secretary for India (Marquis of Zetland) at the India Office on Monday, and during his stav will pay visits io the. Fleet at Portsmouth, to the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, to the Royal Air Force display at Hendon, and th,, “Aldershot Tattoo.” He will attend the Trooping of the Colours on Juiif, 23rd. Arrangements have also been made for him to see over the liner Queen Mary.
