The weather report and forecast are as follows:— General situation: An intense and extensive cyclonic depression covers the New Zealand area, its centre today being north of Cook Strait’. An anti-cyclone is located over southeastern Australia. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong; southerly winds rising to gale force at many places. Seas in New. Zealand wafers: Rough to high. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong southerly winds to gales, with high seas. Weather unsettled and boisterous, with widespread, and in many places heavy, rains. cold, with snow likely on the ranges, and also on some of tihe low levels in the South Island. Hail in places. Mainly fair, however, on the West Coast of the South Island.
