AVIATION

GENEVA, September 8. The Swiss airman, Schruber was the first to cross the Alps in a glider. An aeroplane towed him for a height of 10,500 feet above the Bernese Oberland after which, rising unaided to 12,100 feet, he completed the journey in six hours 20 minutes, landing at Bellinzona. ALICE SPRINGS, September 9. The wrecked Monospar plane has been located. Mather and Maloney were found walking on the direct course to Alice Springs. After being without food and water for three days, they left the plane and were picked up by a car. They were too exhausted to give a coherent account of their experiences.
