Gallagher was a very capable referee, interpreting the “advantage” and “playing ball” ■ rules well. : Douglas at full back played a safe,

solid game and Joe Smith as custodian for Reds gave a faultless exhibition and is as good a man in the position as there is in the district. He is sure on defence, a great kick and handles well. He is also dangerous on attack. Gray played well on defence and hand led well, as did Sara, but they were handicapped through lack of the ball. Brazil Bros on either side were safe and sure. W. Smith has one of the safest pair of hands on view and a hefty boot. J. Dellaca is safe and is hard to stop. L. McMahon is fast and has to be taken low. C. Sara played a good, safe game. Of the forwards Crossman, McKane, Hunt and Mitchell were hard to stop and T. Dellaca and McGeorge were always in the picture. Glennie, O’Regan and Burnett led Stars, who as a pack, packed too loosely. McMahon and Ward were at it in thy tight. Hewison done great work in the loose.
