Loss of Trade ON THE CONTINENT. Ans. nnJ 7 Cable As"' l . (Received August 1. 7.45 p.m.) PARIS. July 31. France is cutting down her coal import quota by ten per cent.. This is equivalent to 470 thousand tons per annum. The Welsh colliery companies are dissatisfied with France’s allocation of her quotas, which, they declare, favour Germany and Poland. ITALY’S STATE AIETAL MONOPOLY. ROME July 31. The Italian Government has decreed a State monopoly of copper, tin, nickel, pit coal and carbon. Tho decree is the result of heavy demands in preparation for an Abyssinian campaign. The decree is expected to affect Italy’s imports of British coal.
