AUSTRALIA V. FRANCE. (Aus. and N.Z. Cable Ass nA PARIS, June 0 In the Davis Cup doubles) Crawford and Quint. (Australia) defeated Borotra and Bernard (France) 63, 4/6. 10/8. 6/4. There were 10 000 spectators. Crawford was in excellent form. Playing quietly, but confidently, he dominated the Australian attack. His low volleying enabled ; the Australians to get to the net.

Quist’s vdlleys were uncertain, but (he Australians combined well. Bernard wan obviously nervous at the start), but, later in the match he served and smashed confidently. Borotra bounded all over the court, \oileyed in typical style, but he attempted to do too much. The .Frenchmen captured the second set from 3/4 behind with a run of brilliant shots.

There -was a great struggle in the third seit. France led 5/4. but Ann tralia equalled and after breaking through Bernard’s service took the set. In the final set, Bernard harcP.v made a mistake, but Borotra’s anxiety to make winners frequently caused him -io -net. Quist and Crawford smashed in great ntylc.
