CORRESPONDENCE
(To the Editor.) Sir. —If rumour in Kumara over the week-end arc correct. then the job of picking up the fallen-in tunnel at Dill man’s is nothing else but a death trap. Men have been taken off otiher jobs, which are held up by the damage and been put into this dangerous job, and 12s a shift is the wage. Men are afraid to refuse work for fear of being sacked from their usual occupations. Men walked out on Saturday night, owing to the danger and others walked in. Why play w 7 itih death ? I suggest that the Mines Inspector inspect the place at once, and if it is not part of his job, then the police should be in-
formed of the danger. Why wait until there are widows and orphans to be eared for or wreaths to be bought I am etc..
