5.1.-MELBOURNE PASSENGER STEAMER. WELLINGTON, May 27. The Union Steamship Company an nounces that a passenger steamer ser vice between the South Inland ports and Melbourne, will be operated next summer with the Maraimi|. which will make her first sailing from Melbourne on November 4th. NURSES’ SCHOLARSHIPS. WELLINGTON, May 27. The New Zealand Registered Nurses’ Association and the Red Cross Society between them, have gathered approximately £250, which with grants from the Government sources is to be used to provide scholarships worth between £4OO and £5OO for the nursfc who may lie selected from New Zealand to proceed to Bedford College of Nurs-ng. London University. The first year would be spent at Bedford College, and the second year devoted to public health work in Great Britain, after which the nurse would return and take Up a nurse instructor position in the Health Department of New Zealand, acting as tutor to 'the post-graduate course for nursing which has already been in operation for some years. It is expected that the selection will be made in the course of a few days. The scholarship is called ithe Florence Nightingale.
