REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) REEFTON, May 13. Mr R. Ronehi, of Blackwater, sustained a severe injury to his left hand this morning, while engaged in his butchery business. He was cutting a body of beef when the chopper he was using struck the thumb of the left hand, cutting it almost its full length. He was brought to Reefton by Mr Hempseed, where Dr. Wicken dressed the wounded member, which required several stitches to be inserted. The funeral of the late Neils George Olsen of Waiuta, took place on Saturday afternoon, and was one of the largest attended corteges ever witnessed in Reef ton, a ct-ing of ears extending for over half a mile. The Reeftcn Fire Brigade, of which body ttie deceased had formerly been a member, headed the procession. The prayers of the Anglican Church were read at the graveside by the Rev. W. Bell, of St. Stephen’s Church. In the Rugby matches played yes terday Ikamatua defeated Black’s Point at Ikamatua by 8 points to 6 after an exciting game. At Robertson’s paddock, Waratah beat Stars by 23 points to 6, and the Waratah juniors defeated Cronadun by 13 points to nil.

The League games Waratah v. Waiuta and Waratah v. Reefton were not played owing to players not being available. The Reefton junior v. Mawheraiti match resulted in a win for Reeftou by 22 points to 5.
