MASS FLIGHT U.S.A. Planes DESTINATION REACHED. (Aus. and N.Z Cable Assn.) (Received May 13, 7 p.m.) HONOLULU, Ma v 12. The Naval Commander-in-Chief at the manoeuvres. Admiral Reeves, has •nnounced that naval air squadrons, 4R planes, have safely reached their destination, executing their missions, but the identity of the destination of the planes and other details are at present withheld. ACCIDENTS IN MANOEUVRES. DESTROYERS COLLIDE. HONOLULU. Mav 12 Two fatal accidents marred the naval operations in Hawaiian waters. Lieutenant Mathias WyaU w:» = drowned when an aeroplane ho was piloting dived into the ocean nfte r taking off from the deck of the warship Saratoga ami sank without trace. Richard Chadwick, a gunner’s mate, was killed, and three sailor s were in ‘red, when ‘he destroyers Sicard and ’.'a collided during a night patrol ir f a mvthieal submarine attack. The Sicard tore into the Lea's stern. Prompt action by the Damage Control Oflicer sav<‘<] the Lea from sinking and enabled her to proceed into Pearl Harbour under her own power. The Sicard was towed by a mine-sweeper. The Lea cut almost to the Sicard’s wardroom quarters.
