REFORM PARTY

Not Fusing ! ONLY ELECTIONEERING RUSE. MINISTER'S STATEMENT. (Per Press Association). CHRTSTCTTURCH, May 13. “There is no fusion,-’’ said Hon. Adam Hamilton, in a telephone inter- ' ic’jv this evening. He discussed the political situation and also a statement from a Joint Committee of the two Parties that was published this morning. When it was suggested to Mr Hamilton that there was a belief, which was stimulated by this statement, that the two Parties would go out of existence, and that a National Party should take their places, the Minister said that, apparently confusion had arisen in the minds of some people over the central organisation. There was no suggestion, ho said, of the two Parties losing their identity, but, for the election, a central organisation was needed. There had been no fusion. He added that there indeed had not been any inter-Party caucus to discuss the subject. The Reform Party, he said, was agreeing to co-operation between the two Parties for the elec tion. A National Committee would organise the in the interests of the two Parties, which would continue with their separate identity, ns thev had done since the last election.
