Evidence was given by eight girls of alleged acts which they stated occurred mainly during reading lessons, and checking and marking of the lessons. Five other girls who had been in Parker’s class in the previous year, also gave evidence.
The defence was a complete denial. The Headmaster, Robert Cole, said the statements of some of the witnesses were unreliable. He was thoroughly convinced the charges were not true. Giving the verdict, the foreman said the jury was unanimously of opinion that Parker was innocent.
