FIRE TRAGEDY

AT NEW YORK. BOSTON. May 7. Four persons, including a motto and her four Seen-year-old daughter; also Mr Lavalle, an internationallyknown portrait painter, were burned to death or killed in leaping as a fire swept the artist’s home to-day while he was in New York at the opening of an exhibit of his pictures. Seven other persons were injured, several critically, including Mr Lavalle ’ six-vear-old daughter.

The dead include two housemaid/. The artist's ten-year-old son leapt to safety. Mr Lavalie’s wife was also absent, visiting her father’s home In Cincinnati!.
