KUMARA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Kumara Women’s Institute was held on Wednesday afternoon, when Mrs J. Reedy presided over a large attendance of members. Mrs Black (West Coast President) paid an official visit for the afternoon. The annual balance sheet wa s read and adopted, and many congratulatory remarks made on the splendid 'work accomplished during the year. Mrs Reedy thanked all members for the mutual co-operation and help accorded her during her year’s work as President, and felt sure the good fellowship among members would con- • line. For the coming year, the following officers were elected: President, Mrs Peever; Treasurer, Miss EWatson; Secretary, Miss A. Hamer; Committee: Mesdames Cooper, Fensom, McGettigan, Reedy. Rochford, Rooney, West and Wise. For the halfyearly Council meeting to be held in Greymouth next month, Mesdames Cooper and Wise were elected delegates. For gaining the highest number of points in competitions during the year, TTie following awards were made: Mrs Peever Ist, Mrs Rochford 2nd, Miss Hamer 3rd. Each was presented with a trophy of merit by the President (Mrs Reedy). The day’s competition, (best pot of jam) resulted: Mrs Rochford Ist, Mrs Pierson 2nd, Mrs Peever 3rd. . Arrangements were made to suitably meet Mrs Kelso (Dominion Organiser of Women’ Institutes) on Monday, March 25. Tt was resolved to donate £1 Is to the Mavor’s Fund to supplement Lord Nuffield’s rift for crippled children. Afternoon ‘tea was served bv the hostesses. Mrs McGettigan, Misses Steel and Watson.
