CONFESSION ALLEGED

IN LINDBERGH BABY MURDER. LONDON, December 30. ‘‘The People” states: The man who supplied the information leading to the arrest of Hauptman for the murder of the Lindbergh baby, is living in England, at a seaside town, fearing the vengeance of gangsters. He is known as Tommy-Gun Tex Burns. He was British-born, and spent nearly all his life in America. He says that finding himself penniless and stranded here, after his deportation from America, he went to the American Consul, and squealed, to save his wife and family from starvation. Burns told “The People’s” representative that he himself was implicated in the crime. He described how Hauptman, carrying the baby down the ladder, slipped and crashed on top of the baby. Confederates hauled both to the car, and drove off. Presently they slowed in order to look at the baby, and discovered it was dead. Thev buried it.
