Scores of old time sailors were disappointed as they waited for hours to-day ou the south shore of Staten Island in order to witness the spectacle of Allen Villiers bringing the square-rigged ship Conrad ’ into New York harbour. The craft which is on a world cruise, was anchored off Sandy Hook late on Saturday until to-day. She attempted to break her 'way against a strong north-west wind and a powerful ebb ’tide, hut even with the use of her auxiliary motor, she was unL able to make much progress, and at jnightfall she dropped sail, being still sevc.n miles from the Narrows, leading Tlie harbour.
