A GOOD SAVE
FREEZING’WORKS FIRE. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 16. Damage estimated at about £lOOO was caused to the building, plant and stock at the works of the Westfield Freezing Company by fire this morning. A good save was effected by the Ellerslie, Mount Wellington and Onehunga Fire Brigades, assisted by the staff brigade, the fire being confined to one room on the top floor of the main block of buildings. Fireproof doors prevented the flames from spreading to other parts of the building, and, although the heavy doors were blistered by heat, little water reached the lower floors. The stock is insured with Lloyds and the buildings with various local companies.
