RESTRICTED BUYING. (Received August 21. at 11 p.m.) BRISBANE. August 21. The wool sales yesterday here yielded an all-round average of fourteen pounds per bale. Greasy descriptions mad e to L5Jd per pound, and scoureds to 24id- Some buyers were quiet, and were taking stock of the situation. One German purchaser said: “We want wool, but we also want the money with which to purchase it. Finance difficulties. particularly on. the Continent, are bound to cau.'e rej/ricted buying,” he added WELLINGTON SALE. CRUTCHINGS GO OFF WELL. WELLINGTON. August 21. A sale of crutchings was held to-day by the Wellington Woolbrokers’ Association. the offering being approximately 1200 bales, including a small proportion of fleece wool. Competition was well spread, within strictly defined limits. The prices of crutchings were easier than a year ago, but were well up to expectations, value being relatively high in comparison with the fleece wools. Australia. Canada, the Continent and local mills and apparently Japan, all took a share of the offerings The official range of prices was as follows:— Fine cross-bred (48/50) average 8d per lb.; fine cross-bred (46/48) average 6Jd to 8d; medium cross-bred (44/46) average 44d to s|d; coarse cross-bred (40/44) average 4d to 54d; lambs fine (44/50) 8d; bellies and pieces, cross-bred good to super. 3sd to 4jd; low to medium to 3jd; merino cruf-hings 7d to 7fd; half-bred crutchings s|d to 7Jd,: cross-bred crutchings superior 5d to 6d; cross-bred crutchings medium to good 4d to 5Jd; crutchings seedy and inferior Id to 4}d; 'cross-bred pieces and bellies 2sd to 4ldj locks and stained pieces Id to 2?d.
