BIG ROAD PROJECT

Round South Coast TO JACKSON’S BAY. (P'’r Press Association) INVERCARGILL, June 15. The construction of tho road from Tuataperc round the coast to Puysegur, and from there through to the Sounds to Milford, eventually joining up with the West Coast at Jackson’s Bay, was the suggestion placed before the Executive of the Southland League this evening, in a letter from Mr R. A. Anderson, C.M.G. There was general agreement on the far-reaching possibilities of so vast a project, which the President of the League, Mr W. Hinchey, roughly’ estimated would cost one million sterling. A committee was set up to study the scheme from the point of view of practicability and cost, a.nd to discuss it with Mr Anderson, and if possible with the Minister of Public Works.
