POLICE ATTACKED
WHEN PURSUING ESCAPEES. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received June 14 at 9 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 14. A message from Bulolo states that Patrolman Mack and a party of Nott Guinea police, who have been pursuing eseaped prisoners, were attacked by other natives. The latter had already killed the escapees and thought that the police were a punitive expedition to avenge this crime. They were routed and given a sharp lesson, although during the scrimmage four arrows struck Patrolman Maek, and a police boy was hit. The wounds were not serious.
