EACH FINED £5. (P' r Press Association). AUCKLAND, June 13. Two young men from. Takaka, Nelson. were charged to-day before Mr .McKean, S.AL, in the Police Court, with stowing away on the Afarama at Auckland on June 2nd. The accused wore James John Dalton, labourer, aged 22, and Ronald Alva Simmons, labourer, aged 20. Both pleaded guilty. It was stated that the two young men crossed from Nelson to the North Island, then walked from Wellington to Auckland in search of work. They boarded the Afarama. at Auckland, but were detained in Sydney and sent back to New Zealand. The accused were convicted and each ordered to pay £5 restitution, in default six weeks’ imprisonment.
