Canb'fbury Justices of the Peace, al a meeting of the Executive of the Association to-night, discussed briefly flip Minister’s statement in Christchurch. that, he was considering the possibility of making more use of Just ices. All the speakers to-night, said that Justices of the Peace had no idea that they should displace magistrates. Their idea was rather that as a great deal of the ra I i»s ’ time was n<»w taken up with lhe hearing of cases which should not occupy their limo at all. by law cases and such like, they felt the services of Justices might be used to lighten the burdens of magistrate-.
