Over half the players nominated for selection in Britain’s Ryder Golt Cup team have, failed to qualify in the Leeds Thousand Guinea golf tournament, including Duncan, Twine, Hav'ers, Robson. Jolly. Kenyon. Seymour, j Denny, Green. Hobson, the Victorian J. Fairbairn and the West Australian Kirwan. The Leeds golf competition provided a thrill, Mitchell, now a veteran, beating Henry Cotton, one of the ablest young players by 2/1, after being four down at the twelfth. In the next round, C. Ward, a little known Birmingham professional, took | Mitchell to the, nineteenth hole, before ibeing defeated.
