WESTPORT NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) Medical Attention. WESTPORT, September 18. Delegates from the permanent, em ployees of the Bu’ler County Council approached the unemployed workers recently, with a view to becoming members of the Medical Association. In advocating that the provisions of the new scheme should be extended tp the County employees, it was stressed that the men though termed permanent hands, were not. earning much more than jh e dole and for that reason it was thought that representations through the unemployed workers’ union could be made to th? Hospital Board to let that class of worker become eligible for membership. Mr E. Potter said ho would give every assistance in eliminating any obstacles to the men becoming participants in the scheme, but was of the opinion fh c monthly subscription would have to bo more than that paid by reli 'f workers. The question was the subject of much discussion, and it was finally agreed to adjourn the meeting in order to evolve a scale of monthly subscription suited to th e . circumstances of the employees concerned. The matter will be further discussed at a meeting £0 be called this week. A Settlement.
