MONSTER PETITION
Against Reent Legislation TO BE PRESENTED BY LABOUR. WELLINGTON. May 1There was a meeting to protest against the actions of the. Government, held at the Labour Hall at Petone, this afternoon. It was attended by about two hundred and fifty people. Mr Jas O’Brien, M.P., spoke at length of tho recent legislation. In the absence of Mr W. J. Jordan M.P. (President of the Labour Party) Mr Jas. Roberts, Secretary of the New Zealand Alliance of Labour, discussed I the problems of the dav in relation to tho workers. Towards the conclusion of Mr Robert’s speech, the meeting became unruly, but order was eventually restored. An intimation that the party had decided to present a monster signed petition to Parliament was given by Mr O’Brien, and a resolution pledging support for this petition was passed.
