GREAT POLICE PARADE
In Sydney Streets 1,500 TAKE PART. (Aus. ft N.Z. Cable Assn.; (Received April 29 at 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 29. Fifteen hundred members of the New South Wales police force took part in a march through the city streets to-day. Cycle patrols, wireless patrols, and “Black Marias” also took part in it. This was a most unusual procession. Nothing like it has ever occurred before. Even the police are unaware of the motive. A section of the press has described it as “a gesture for the public benefit. ’ ’ There were lusty cheers along the route. The Governor, Sir P. Game, took the salute in the vicinity of Par- > liament House, and with him wjere the l Premier, Mr Lang; the Chief Secre[4 tnry, Mr Gosling; the Chief Commis- | sioner of Police, Mr Childs; and tne I former .Police Chief, Mr Mitchell. , There was an excited crowd at tho saluting base, who cheered the Premier vociferously when ho was about to depart.
