Opening of Season The 1932 Rugby Season will be ushered in to-morrow when the competi tions at Greymouth and Hokitika will commence. At Rugby Park, Cobden, last year’s champions will meet on No. 1 ground, and United will play Blaketown on No. 2 ground. Both matches will’ be proceeded by junior fixtures. The new ground is in first class order, and if the weather keeps fine for the occasion, a guod afternoon’s football should be witnessed. Seating accomodation has been provided for 300 spectators. The teams have been in steady training for the past four weeks and all players should be in good trim for their first game. The Greymouth competition has drawn four senior teams and six junior teams. At Hokitika five senior teams will take part Tn the competition for the Southern .Championship, and this will be very gratifying to Rugby followers. With nine teams from which to chose the representatives, fans can look forward to seeing a very strong fifteen to represent the Coast this season.

It is to be hoped that the W.C.R-U will stage at least two matches with o.ur Hokitika rivals, for now that Ho kitika have again decided to run their competition, which was necessary to avoid travelling, keen ciompetition should result when the two Unions meet. The senior fixtures for Saturday will commence at 3 p.m. Star seniors to play (Cobden: Baird, Lees, McGinley, Earthorne, Fong, Beban, Scandrett, Petrie, Buchanan, Fell, Furness, Deere, Scott, Dixon, Tanner. Emergencies: Guy, Reynolds, Cochrane, Dunn, Reynolds. All players are to meet at the Park Hotel at 2 p.m. Star juniors to play Blaketown: — Johnston, McNabb, Minchin, Richardson, Seebeck, Cooper, Costello, Dixon, Buchanan, Rinaldi, Currie, Croft, Anthony, Kirkwood, Eatwell, Williams (2), Rathbun. Team assembles at Rugby Park at 1 o’clock. Cobden fourth graders v. Technical A at School ground at 1.30 p.m. tomorrow: Clancy (2), Gough, Cullen, Mcßrearty, Mantann, Honey, Morley (2), Eatwell, Wilson, Moore, Mclntyre, Roach, Moss. Players to meet at Technical School ground at 1 p.m.
