GENERAL CABLES

LAST WAR PRISONER RELEASED. (Ann. & N.Z. Cable Assn). BERLIN, April 26. The last German war prisoner has only just been liberated and repatriated. When captured by the French, he was court martialled on the ground that, as an Alsatian by birth, he ought not to have joined the German Army, and was sentenced to life detention in the penal colony of French Guiana. In response to German representations, President Doumer has granted a pardon.

STUDENTS’ EXAMS. WINNIPEG, April 26. Advice that the students had been able to buy stolen examination papers, resulted in the Manitoba University Professors working all night, preparing a new set for the examinations to-day.
