Three relief workers were engaged on work on the Recreation Ground. Huntly, yesterday. A police guard of five watched the proceedings. A number of unemployed were detailed yesterday to clear the railway line of scrub and gorse in the central part of the town for relief wages 12s a day. The committee of the unemployed met and refused to let the men work on the job, unless paid railway surfacemen’s wages 14s a day.
