LABOUR RALLY
Against Coalition MOVEMENT SOLID. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, March 31. It is reported here that the Labour Movement generally is satisfied with the success of the demonstration held in the Town Hall last evening, protesting against the Government’s policy. It is considered that the unanimity displayed is an indication of the general feeling of the public towards the Coalition Government’s policy.
Some comment has been made on the moderate tone of the speeches, and one I Union Secretary stated to-day that, to his mind, if the speakers had advocated action of a concrete nature, the meeting would have been with them all the way. It is significant that several interjections during the evening favoured direct action, and one suggestion was that there should be a petition to the Governor-General.
