PLANE CRASHES
Near Foxton HOME-MADE MACHINE’S SHORT LIFE. FOXTON, March 31. Robin .Chrystall, aged 21, crashed in a home-made monoplane at Manawatu Heads this afternoon. The plane hao previously been successfully flown to' the beach on Monday. At a second attempt. to-day, the plane reached a height of 250 feet, when it nose dived over the pilot station when banking, and crashed on the foreshore.
The pilot was extricated by a fisherman, the wreckage fortunately not taking fire. Chrystall sustained a fracture of both legs and facial injuries. He was admitted to the hospital in a serious condition. The plane was completely wrecked. Chrystall had only flva hours’ flying to his credit, and until Monday he had never flown solo.
