REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.! REEFTON, February 18. Word has been received from Wellington of the illness of Mrs Fagan, wife of the Hon. Mark Fagan, M.L.C., and formerly a well-known Reef ton resident. Mrs Fagan’s condition is reported to be serious. Mrs T. C. O’Brien and her daughter, Miss Eily O’Brien, left this morning for Christchurch, where the latter enters the Training College. Mr Fattorini received word on Tuesday that his son, Ewan, -who injured his eye, was improving at Lewisham Hospital, and that the doctor is hopeful of saving the eye. Mr and Mrs R. Wilson arrived at Rcefton by Tuesday evening’s Christchurch express. The annual school excursion to Hokitika took place yesterday, when over five hundred excursionists, including ninety from the north of Reefton, took part. The day was fine at Hokitika, and all enjoyed the outing immensely. Sports were provided for the children and in these the Committee were assisted by Mr Stapleton, of Hokitika, whose efforts were greatly appreciated. The Committee also received considerable assistance from the Railway officials, both at Reefton and at Hokitika, which all tended to make the outing more enjoyable.
