Association}. WANGANUI, February 18. Wanganui Jockey Club’s autumn meeting opened to-da v i n fine weather with a fair attendance. The track was very hard. The totalisator handled £6799 for seven races, against £12,193 for eight races last year. Results:— Westmere Hurdles.—2 CONJURER 11. (W. Bowden) 1. 3 Royal Acre (Jenkins) 2, 6 Just an Idea (Moran) 3. Also started: 3 Callapat, 1 Tunbridge, 5 Whisogne. Over the early stages Whisogne, Callapat and Royal Acre were the leaders. Conjurer 11. made a run in the straight anil won by five lengths, •lust an Idea was two lengths away, a head in front of Callapat. Time 2.48 4-5.

Jadarino led to the tun, but Davidstock challenged at the d’stance and won by two lengths. Time 1.15.

Furlong led into the straight from Dakar, Headmaster. Paioneone and Hampden, but the favourite dashed up at the half distance to win bv a head, with Dakar half .j length back. Time 1.2 1-5.

Earie Stakes.—4 SHREWD 7.4 (W J. McDowell) 1, 8 Monalof 7.8 (S Wilson) 2, 1 Grand Jury (M. Pine) 3. Also started: 6 Jo e De Vai 7.10, 3 Ala horn, 7 Flower 7.44, 2 High Faintin ’, 3 King Colossus. Shrewd, Alahora High Faintin’ and Monalof led out of the straight. On the home turn Monalof, Shiewd and Grand Jury was the order of the leaders. In the run home Shrewd asserted himself to wi n by half a length with Grand Jury two lengths away, Joie De Vai was fourth. Time
