(Our Own Correspondent.) I Mr A. Breech and Master Breech (Dunsandel) are visiting here as the guests of Mr and Mrs E. J. Allen. Rev. Bro. Fergus (Greymouth) was a visitor to the township during the week-end.
I . Miss M. Purton (Dobson) who has been visiting here, has returned. ’ Mrs H. Hagen and Miss M. Kerridge returned from Christchurch on Satur--1 day evening. -p Captain McGregor (Christchurch) flew over the township in his plane on Saturday afternoon. Accompanying I him were Mr Geo. Mclnroe, and Mr ißert Winchester. The appearance of the plane caused quite a commotion, more particularly among the f< small fry.’’ A number of residents visited Ikamatua on Sunday to inspect the machine.
Waiuta Rugby Juniors defeated Ikamatua Juniors at Ikamatua on Sunday, after a hard-fought game by 6 ooints to 3. E. Byrne was responsible for two tries for Waiuta, while J. Pfahlert kicked a penalty goal for Ikamatua. Mr J. Fitzgerald had charge of the game.'
Marist League Juniors met the local Juniors on th e Recreation Ground on Sunday, before a good crowd of spectators. The game was fairly even rp |to half time, the scores being seven .all. Marist backs held the upper hand in the second spell, and added a further 26 points, while the locals added a further 7 points, Marist winning by 33 points to 14. The handling of the Mar.is't backs was very clean and they gave a finished exhibition of the code. The Imais lacked finish and training, but I will h e a force to be reckoned with in |the cup fixtures. For Marist, Williams, S. Anisy, August, Restieaux, Burger, • Furruin, and McHugh wore prominent.
