OPERA HOUSE TO-NIGHT. KARL DANE AND GEORGE K. AR- ' THUR IN “CHINA. BOUND.” Karl Dane and George K. Arthur are at their comedy best in “China Bound,” to be screened at the Opera House to-night. The film, which Charles F. (Chuck) Reisner directed, is a laugh riot, the best of Ihe five comedies in which Dane and Artburi have co-starred. “China Bound’,’ fur l nishes them with a now vehicle ail they go blunderingly on, first with] Dane as a stoker and Arthur as bis stowaway pal, and later in the Chinese coolie disguises. The story provides opportunities for the bulky antics of the .huge Dane, who is his partner’s| pal and not his rival in love. Each has a sweetheart, Polly Moran playing I this role for Dane, and Josephine Dunn as leading lady for Arthur. They are | menaced not only by Angus McAlister, Josephine’s father, but. by Chinese ‘bandits. A battle scene adds to the J interest. I SATURDAY’S MATINEE AND | EVENING. “GIVE AND TAKE.” “Give and Take.” a comedy and drama from a great stage success, with two great stars, George Sidney and .lean Hersholt, will be presented at to* morrow’s matinee and evening. The story tells of the ridiculous results of a. young and ambitious college graduare to put his father’s business on a 1 profit-sharing basis. George Lewis, Sharon Lynn, Sam Hardy and Charles Hill Mailes are in the supporting cast. BLACKBALL TONIGHT. Jon ip S. Pastor and Katie Gourlay, imported artists, who have appeared in the loading theatres of Australia and the Dominion, will present their musical comedy circus “Wee Nips o’ Scotch,” in conjunction with a firstclass picture programme at Blackball to-night. The “Daily Telegraph,” Sydney, in criticising the performers of the Tivoli programme, said: “The bill is headed by n comedian of worldwide renown—. Tonic Pastor, the “fidgety fiddler,” who on this occasion lived well up to his reputation as a clever artist. Pastor and Gourlay’s act was quite one out of the usual run, and their witty patter, singing, antics and natural comedy was put over with such originality that it forced a storm of appreciative applause from a huge audience. This turn is now in their seventh week and •it looks good for a similar period.” Reef ton will be played to-morrow night, Tkamntua 12th. and Wai nt a 13th.
