The motor industry reports an improvement, the production now being 20 per cent, higher than for the same, period last year, and in some lines il is even higher, notably for light cars; but others are feeling an uncertainty arising from Budget possibilities. Moanatairi mine manager reports a reef was cut 58 feet down the shaft, and continued to 73 feet, at the north end, but is not yet across the shaft. It has carried colours and dabs of gold, and is a strong body of ore. A 7ft. drillhole at 70 feet passed through stringers and ribs of quartz, and drillings were, heavily mineralised. This formation is nearly of the same strike as the shaft and should junction with the reef. There are great possibilities of getting a good run of gold.
