Cases From The East BEACH BRITAIN. LONDON, Apiil 16. A week ago several eases of confluent smallpox were discovered in England and Scotland, among passengers who eanio overland from Marseilles, from ’bo Bombay liner Tus jcrinia, on which one case was diagnosed Jiefoi'e sho reached Maiseillcs. There was comment at the time that if more stringent measures had been taken at Marseilles, tho disease would not have gained a footing in Britain. There is a tfiierco oiitcry* at the French announcement that Channel passengers will be refused entry to France, unless they produce a certificate of vaccination within two months. It is pointed out that this will kill the tourist traffic, and prevent the majority from going to any port of the Continent. Representations to Paris for modification have been fruitless. Passengers on liners from Australia calling at Toulon «in<i Marseilles will he. affeeted. The first will be those on the Ormonde.
