GREYMOUTH CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of lhe Grey mouth Golf Club was held last evening. Mr A. Smith presiding over a fair attendance of members. The annual report and balance sheet was received, a satisfactory credit be ing shown. Election of officers resulted as follow?:—President, Mr W. Meldrum; Captain, Mr G. S. Pratt; Secretary, Mr G. F. Shallcrass (subject t« consent;) Treasurer, Mr F W. Shallcrass; Auditor, Air P. C. Heaphy; Committee: Messrs J Cairney, H. P. Olney. N. B. McCallum, M. J. Fogarty, A. Smith. New members elected were Messrs F Thorpy and Macbeth. Air Cairney made a brief report on the work don e on the links preparatory to the forthcoming season. It was decided that the opening day bo on Sa urday. April 27th. It was resolved that the thanks oi the Club be rce'ordetl on the minute? to Air 11. A. Wild for his effi-ient services as Secretary of the Club prior to his transfer to Auckland. A vote of thanks was also accorded to thc outgoing Commi tec. THE ANNUAL REPORT. Tn submitting the annual report and balance sheet for the year 1928, your committee can congratulate members on what was on the whole a successful season, 1 hough to some extent it was marred by lhe lack of early frosts to check the growth of grass on thc fairways. Dalgleish Shield. — The only match for thc Dalgliesh Shield during thc past season was played at the West Coast Tournament, when according to Ihe rules under which it is held, the shield came automatically into competition. It was won by the Greymouth Club, by a one jjcint lead ove? the Buller Club. Inter-Club Matches. The annual match was played against the Hokitika Club on June 3, at Hokitika, and was won by Greymouth. The Greymouth Club Mfas also ■successful 1 in winning the Seddon Cup on the same day. The Club lost an efficient secretary in Air IT. A. Wild, who was transferred on promotion to Auckland, while he was enjoying Ihis second, season in office as secretary. The Club wishes h m every success and much pleasant golf in his new sphere. During thc fnntfmer yoiir committee has had the greens cut at frequent intervals, and the greens in the racecourse have been fenced, and should be greatly improved this season. Thc fairways still have a considerable g r owth of grass upon them, making an Eister tournament out of thc question. The balance sheet to be submitted to you this evening will again be found satisfactory, and the financial position of the Club is- round, apd gradually improving. However, the incoming committee should not neglect any possible cource of revenue, keeping in view the increasing desirability of the Club acquiring its own links as tho becomes w? popular. Tho thanks of the Club are due to the trustees of the Greymouth Jockey Club, to the Greymouth Evening S l ar, and the.
