THE LEAGUE GAME.
PICNIC TO MAWHEBAITI ON SUNDAY NEXT. A fully representative meeting of the West Coast Rugby League was held last evening. The surveyors appointed to consider the question of the levelling and laying out the ground, and other improvements, reported to the meeting, and submitted a plan of the proposed schemes. It was decided to hold a special meeting on Thursday evening next for the purpose of fully discussing the grounds improvements.
The arrangements for the monster picnic to be held at Mawheraiti next Sunday were finalised. Tickets will bo sold at the special boxes on the station platform, and may also be obtained from th c Queen Carnival Committees at Runanga, Ngahere, Blackball, Brunner and Hot water, tea and sugar will be provided on the grounds, free of charge.* every attention will be given to patrons. The tickets, which are now procurable, are meeting with ready sale.
In connection with the excursion to Mawheraiti, trains will leave Blackball, Ngahere, Dun ollie and Greymouth for Mawheraiti, stopping at Blackball Track, Ahaura and Ikamatua en route to pick up passengers. It has been freely rumoured that the League picnic had been declared off, but such rumou r is entirely without foundation, and the arrangements have now been completed, and the excursion will be held to Mawheraiti on Sunday next. An attractive sports programme has been arranged, and the children have especially been catered for, assuring them of every opportunity to enjoy a splendid day’s outing. ______
