another labour win. LONDON, February 8. The Bishop Auckland byelection (owing to the death of Mr B. C. Spoor, Labour) resulted in the return of Mrs Hugh Dalton (Labourite), wife of Mr H. Dalton, the Labour M.P. The voting was:— Mrs Dalton (Labour) .. 14,797 Mr A. Curry (Liberal) .. 7,725 Mr H. Thompson (Con.) 3,357 The death has occurred of Mr A. W Dean, M.P., for Holland-with-Bos-ton (Lincolnshire). He was born in 1857. ' The death has also occurred of Sir Alexander Sprot, Conservative M.P. for Lanark North. He served in se- < vere campaigns, and was born in 1853.
