A HEAVY THUNDERSTORM. SYDNEY. December 16. There was a heavy thunderstorm last night over the city. For several hours the lighting was particularly vivid. Several reports are current that buildings were struck, but so far they have not been authenticated. The rain was torrential at times, but it is welcomed on all sides, as the long <lry spell has parched the countryside. STRANDED STEAMER. SYDNEY, December 16. Reports from Port Moresby state that passengers left the steamer Morinda yesterday. A heavy broadside swell prevented the success of the effort. ELECTRIC TRAIN DERAILED. SYDNEY, December 16. The derailment of the carriage of an electric train at the Milson Point Terminus yesterday afternoon, blocked three lines, which were tom up badly, and rolling stock was considerably damaged. The remainNg lines, however. were able to handle the traffic, which is one of the heaviest of Syd ney’s suburban services. No one was injured.
