SYDNEY, December 6. Thomson was acquitted at the Darlinghurst Sessions to-day, on the charge of wounding Gibbs in a sword , duel. Thomson was discharged. A previous cable stated that what was believed to have been a duel with cavalry swords occurred at Darlinghurst, resulting in William Gibb being treated in the hospital for wounds in the hand. Later,, the police arrested a man, who was charged with inflicting the injury. The parties wore not communicative. They had an argument, and the sword play followed. One denied the duel, and the other said it was a fair fight. DEAD BODY IN TENT. MELBOURNE, December 7. Alfred Allan, who has been missing for some clays from the Melton District, was discovered in a tent dead, with injuries. It is believed he was murdered, as the gun is missing.
